We have always dreamed of living in the country on a farm and were finally able to fulfill that dream.  It's not an easy life, but it is a very rewarding life.  And mostly peaceful.

We always knew we wanted cattle and we researched and did more research and decided on American Aberdeen, although they were known as Australian Lowline Angus at that time.  You can read their story here:

After looking at some and being around them, we knew they were what we wanted to raise.  They are smaller than regular angus but have a high beef yield.  They're low maintenance and don't need as much pasture.  And they are a friendly, gentle breed.  We can't imagine raising any other breed now.

We never really thought about raising goats.  One day, we were joking around about different animals, including goats and we decided to research the different breeds.  We decided to get a couple of Nigerian Dwarf goats.  We started out with 3 unregistered Nigerian Dwarf goats, 2 have since passed away and the 3rd, Sugar, has a happy life here on the farm.  We fell in love with the breed and decided to raise registered Nigerian Dwarfs.

We bought 3 registered doelings and a registered buckling and we've had so much fun with them.  We never knew goats could be so much fun!

We already had backyard chickens in town, so we moved them to the farm with us and added to them.  The pond seemed pretty quiet so we added some ducks and it wasn't long before we added Embden geese.  The pond is never quiet now.

We are called Little Critters Farm, so we added a couple of miniature donkeys.  We had never been around any donkeys before and were surprised at how sweet and lovable they are.
